Trip to the Jungfraujoch

Lukas, Roland and myself made a trip to the Jungrfraujoch during the the last two days. We went to Grindelwald where we had a nice stay in the Hotel Gletscherschlucht. The restaurant in the hotel offers excellent seasonal meals. Just a few meters away from the hotel is the entry to the canyon.

We took the train to the Jungfraujoch

where we enjoyed all the great things like the ice cave within the beautfil mountains.

Schindelberg (up from Libingen)

Today there was only time for a half day tour. I did decide to ride to Libingen and then try the trail up to Schindelberg. This trail is hard and bike riding is often not possible. But it was worth a try ... especially the end is impressive.

Maighelspass

The start this time was in Airolo (which has become more difficult to reach by train and bike in the last years). From there I used the old Gotthard street to Hospental and then to Andermatt. Here does the mountain bike tour start up to the Maighelspass.

The trail to the Maighelspass is on the left. A little bit to the right is the Vermigelgütte. The trail up the the pass requires was to steep for me to drive. The downhill on the other side however is great. During this downhill I did meet Bernhard Russi and had a nice chat about this trail.

Tomül and Glass Pass

A pretty heavy mountain bike trip from Ilanz to Vals and then up to the Tomül-Pass.

On the other side down to Safien Platz. There is this sign which points towards the lake and reads Glasspass. Following it is pretty hard.

Once the bike is pushed up the hill there is a nice downhill towards Thusis.

Risi Pass

A trip from home to Nesslau then to Vorder and Hinter Laad. It was nice to see the same supportive fans sitting near the road.

Then to Stein and up to the Risipass - very few cars as the other side is just something for mountainbikers and hikers. Up to the Schwägalp, where three beauties enjoyed the sun

 and then back over Urnäsch.
